Has anyone ever gotten their hands on one of these, either an original issued weapon or the currently produced version? Just curious...

Zazstava/Kragujevac Tokarev? |

A while ago I realized that Zastava Arms, the current incarnation of the old Kragujevac Arsenal, is apparently still manufacturing and selling the Yugoslavian version of the Tokarev, the M57 (click on the
"pistols" link). Apparently it's identical to the TT-33 except for a longer grip increasing the magazine capacity by one round. It is chambered
in either 7.62x25mm and 9x19mm. I also noticed that Marstar Canada lists them on their web site, though they are out of stock.

Ken,
OK, got her all tore down, cleaned up, oiled up, and reassembled.Chcusnr1 you are correct in that the recoil spring is different in that to disassembled you have to remove it out the back of the pistol to remove it before you can remove the barel bushing instead of depressing it from the front and then removing the barrel bushing like a russian. Mine was inported by PW Arms .The whole gun looks like new and I would rate it at 98%.The barrel looks pristine. The extra length is odd as compared to others but is appeciated by my big meaty paws.I just got done putting it through its paces with 72 rounds of 1980's Romo.It points really well but as with most military pistols the sights are a little difficult to pick up without concentrating.I put the first 9 rounds thru it as fast as I could pull the trigger with no problems.I then proceeded to set up a target at 15 yards.I put 3 mags thru that and I could lay my hand over all but one hole.My boy then proceeded to shoot the rest of the box without a single flaw.I am very inpressed with it and would reccommend it highly if you are considering one. There are only 2 small flaws with mine. One, my safety is extremely hard to engage.(I probably just need to tinker withit some)Two,the big billboard they put on the side.Other than that a very well made pistol and a nice addition to my collection. surplusguy wrote:Overall yours sounds about like mine. Same PW billboard - oh well, what are you going to do. Same problem with the safety. I hit it with degreaser, then Remmington gun oil and then worked it to death. Got a little easier. Let it sit for a week, and it's much better now. Still a little stiff, but managable. Haven't been to the range. Jim |

I had a new in the box Yugo M-57 about 10-15 years ago. It was the commercial version, w/o any type of safety and only came with one mag. ( I don't have
the slightest idea of how it made it to the states ), and was in 9x19mm. I thought it was tremendously cool, but the accuracy was abysmal. From a rest at 15
yards, it was all I could do to keep it on the paper. I tried white box 115 gr, 124 gr. premium, everything. Nothing worked. Out of frustration, I sold it
for what I paid for it. Big mistake I guess, because I've never seen another.
