My problem is that bullet goes through target crosswise. As you can see on the picture (Holes in the center is 22 lr). I tried to change powder (French then Finish), bullets (Hornady then Sierra 130gr), case and primers. Nothing works. I bought a Remington cartridge box (130 gr) and miracle comes. It works just fine. Anybody have an idea about that? This gun is nime from years and worked ok since, the barrel is a Delcour (Belgium barrel manufacturer very famous). Please, excuse my "French", I try to do the best I can. In advance thank you.

Posts: 618 (05/04/09 10:52 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	We call that "keyholing", and it is generally caused by either the wrong size bullet (not big enough around to engage rifling properly, or the wrong "twist rate" (one turn in ten inches....etc) on the rifling affecting the stabilization of the bullet. Some types of rifling do not stabilize boattail bullets properly also. If you have a cartridge that shoots well in your rifle, then you should examine the differences in the cartridges that do not shoot well, checking for diameter, bullet weights and type of bullet (boattail or no, shape differences) You might also speak with the barrel manufacturer for recommendations for their barrel. I was thinking the same thing. More info is needed. What bullet did Remington load in the ammo? Most boxes say what was used.

You'd think that if they were tumbling that they would vary in how they hit the target. Maybe sideways is the most stable if they aren't spinning axially? Have MythBusters done this ?
