I went in there looking for primers (which I
didn't get) and took a look at his Milsurp rack not believing lightning could strike twice. There was one rifle laying on the ledge in front of the rack.
The fellow says to me, he says, "That's the longest one of the bunch there. It won't even fit in the rack with the others. That's why it's
laying there in front." I hadn't picked it up yet and thinking surely he's learned by now asked him what it was... He said it was a
91/30.
Uhhh, it's different from all the rest. Maybe it's
not the same kind of rifle??? Doo dee doo doo...
Has the old style
sight... sling swivels through the slots... SA marked!

I did try to talk him down this time but I'm afraid I wasn't too
convincing.
I gave $135.31 out the door.
Well, I really don't know what it is yet, I haven't had a chance to look things up. The bolt has old dry, dessicated cosmo in it but otherwise it's clean. The stock was dry and dusty/dirty so I wiped it down with a mineral spirits/old motor oil blend. I haven't taken anything apart yet so have no idea what I'll find on the tang. Barrel seems to be marked Tikka(?) 1942. Anyway, here's the pics, you tell me the story???
and I have to make a confession... I now have more Mosins than Mausers?!
First question. Shouldn't there be a handguard??? But the barrel bands aren't made to allow for that. But then again, the barrel bands don't seem to be a perfect match to the weapon (see last pic)
Is the round repair plug (it doesn't go all the way through) significant of anything?
Is that grains of powder down there?!?!?
And this...
Both barrel bands have that extra step in them as if for a different rifle or something. what's that about?
