I have a couple questions and it seems to make sense to ask them here. I have a gun I am trying to figure out info on. here is what it says on it. US PROPERTY S#4MK1* Serial number 99C20** also what looks like /47 which I am assuming is 1947. has a bunch of other markings on it, but I am not sure which ones are significant. One is a crown with GB under it (and some other markings) Like I said I am an ignorant noob, that is really curious at learning. Any ideas at where I can read up on this gun a bit more online??? Markings on the side just below the sights are ............No 4 MK1 ROF(F) 5/43. There is what appears to be a serial number on the metal band between they stock and the rifle..................DC240754. There are two 5's stamped upside down on the side of the receiver. Since I am a newbie I assume the markings to mean that this is an Enfield No4 Mark 1 and was manufactured in May of 1943. Can anyone help me further with the origins of this weapon. I have read the other posts here and see no other serial number or markings similar. There are no US markings like I see in other posts. Any information or help would be appreciated.

SN matches on bolt and magazine. Stock stamped: KKD (or B perhaps) 1-44, FR 601, Savage S in circle underneath near receiver socket, naked S near muzzle end under stock. Flip rear sight. 2 groove (immaculate) barrel Rifle appears to be entirely Savage maufacture. Metal below wood has mustard colored weatherproof paint (have not verified barrel stampings due to paint)

SSN# 84C78**on stock socket . B stamped below SSN#. Sq S marked 300/600 rear sight. Sq. S in circle and deep stamped K in butt at bottom of wrist. AMZAC/MAZAC butt plate marked s and cJt on inside of trap door. Upper handguards. Rear: Savage grooved. Front: stamped w/ Sq S on inside of wood and metal forend cap. Lower forestock Stamped Sq S inside wood and on forend cap. V on top rt D on top lt next to bolt/action. Front sight guard stamped W. Front sight +045 and Sq S marked. Bolt marked CB25737A on Bolt handle and Sq C inside milled cut of locking lug. Striker marked F Y M K 11 Bolt head marked F size 1. Bayonet is Sq S No4MkII. Scabbard is marked W and N 64 (Sheffield). Came w/ Turkish stacking pin, and #5 milled rear sight. Seller had original S 300/600 sight. No date anywhere on gun. This rifle is all S except bolt, and front sight guard. Any body got these in Sq S marked items? I'll swap or buy. Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with Identifying them please?And tell me the year my rifle was made. I am assuming 43 but please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. The fist major umver is located underneath the third barrel band: 52296 The 2nd Major Number was scratched out and is on the side of the buttstock, facing the shooter: 1520 The 3rd Major Number is NOT scratched out and is underneath the scrathed out number on the side of the buttstock,facing the shooter: 1290 Any ideas as to what these numbers maybe?

I acquired an Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1 in November 2008, based largely on information found in this forum. Since then, I have become convinced that it's a Mk. 1* manufactured by Savage. I'd welcome any corrections, further information, etc. Serial number: on the bolt, I see 71C4586; on the left side of the butt stock ring, I see 6603637 B. Nearly all pieces are stamped with the square Savage 'S'. On the receiver, I see "S No. 4 Mk 1 ," where the comma is superscripted. (And yes, it could be something other than a comma; my vision is not great and the marking is faint.) It bears the usual Lend-Lease "U. S. Property." On the stock behind the trigger guard I see the British broad arrow, then SL/N/74. I take this to refer to the furniture rather than the manufacturer. There are no date or unit markings that I can see. There were some import markings on the underside of the muzzle, but those have been removed by a sympathetic gunsmith. The cocking piece is 2nd variation, the backsight is the 2nd variation 300/600 yard flip type, the foresight block band is 1st variation and the the foresight blade is type A 1st variation -- all per Stratton v. 2, strengthening my belief that it's a Savage No. 4 Mk. 1*. I would ask "what have I got?" except that a) I already have a pretty good idea - lurking on this board is very edumacational - and b) you've heard that so often I probably would not get much of a response. Any information on this rifle (place of manufacture, and date) would be appreciated! Bought off a retired Canadian Major. Thanks, Syn

All the other markings on the rifle including the clip indicate a Savage made and from the posts I have seen, she was made in late 1943.

The cocking piece is a no shine, brush stainless steel look to it. What's the story on these? The other ones I have are blued and I don't find any reference to them in my limited reference library.
