Floorplate on Turk won't seat |
Lead | |
|
I have an old Turk that my son just loves. He came in with it the other day with the floor plate out and said he couldn't get it to go back and seat or
latch. I worked for over an hour to no avail. I think it might be bent ever so slightly. Any suggestions from the experts?

This shows the floor plate in the seated position. To remove, depress the plunger latch and slide the floor plate toward the trigger guard a fraction of an
inch. To reinstall, position the floor plate in the aft position and (while pressing down) slide forward until locked. Another pair of hands, brass drift and
small hammer can really be a help in removal; not usually needed to reinstall. Sometimes the engagement surfaces on the floor plate and trigger guard become
clogged with dried cosmolene, dirt or rust. Before you attempt reinstallation, use a soft-bristled wire brush to clean all mating surfaces and lube lightly.
Best wishes, Dave. (sorry for the large image; thought it would be easier to study)

If careful cleaning doesn't work once in a while you may have to undent the best efforts of Omar the ten thumbed turkish armorer and his ball peen hammer.
Good luck! |
