C&R question |
Lead | |
|
Someone was selling some rifles and I was asked if I was interested. I ended up buying them, some C&R, some not. Since it was all or nothing, I don't
want the C&R rifles and plan on selling them. When I requested the name and address of the original owner ( I never met him) he wants $100 for the info.
Since I did not use the C&R to acquire, can I list them as from private collection or do I have to hand over $100 to get his info?
Thanks, Ken |

Boy, does that ever sound like a shady deal, wanting a hundred bucks just to get his name and address. I would be for making darn sure the firearms are not
stolen property. Check it out with your local law enforcement agencies before proceeding. Situations like that scare the crap out of me.

It wasn't like the guy is shady, just out of work looking to sell whatever to raise some money. I didn't want to buy them in the first place, I am out
of work also but do have a gun fund. I made an offer that was accepted. He wasn't happy with what he got and is looking to make a few more dollars. I was
going to throw him a few more $$ since one of the rifles is worth more then I thought and quite frankly I got a very good deal and was feeling like it was the
right thing to do. I just didn't like the way the guy is handling this. The $100 won't kill me so I will clear this all up and keep my books in order.
I am still very happy with what I got.
Thanks, Ken |

Don't take this wrong, but you screwed up from the get-go.
The license is not something you use at your discretion. You accepted the terms of use which include the fact you must abide by the regs. Those pieces were/are required to be processed by you in a legal manner and entered into your book. No exceptions, legally. |

The guy you bought them from is whose info should be going into your book, anyway.

Everything is resolved. All C&R's entered with required information. My fault for not getting the info at the time of sale.
