1911A1, Luger, Nambu, the P38 would be in 4th position.
Just for the history behind them. |

"Radom", Luger and any Austro-Hungarian use auto pistol.
The "Radom": well I collect them, lots of them; the Luger: history, craftsmanship and they are good investments; the Austro-Hungarian autos: one of the major players of WWI and they used some really odd looking pistols.

Not enough information here. Is it the objective most influential, like the History Channel's list, or is it favorite, as in collectible, or best shooting?
Influential: 1911, Luger, Webley Collectable: 1911, Luger, Nambu Favorite Shooter: Ballester Molina, P38, Tokarev |

Bill, you did it again......
I came up with 1911s, then Broomhandles, then Lugers before I saw your answer. My son is into C96s....he could have chosen something cheaper! He
loves the .30..it couldn't be 9mm, of course.... I just think
they're neat, apparently Hollywood likes them too.
I have a 1917 DWM Luger we shoot....and shamefully, a Kreighof 42 made in 1938, all matching, about 99%, with holster and original tool, that sits in the safe. It's the only one that does not make it out to the range. Lugers were always the bad guy's guns in all the old war movies.... 1911s....I dunno, but something stirs in my blood when I see or handle a 1911 or a Garand. |

Largest influence on military history: 1860 Army Colt,(no explanation needed) 1911 Colt/Luger(both changed minds on semiauto handguns) , P-38 (made the 9mm
pistol the military standard)
My Favorites Webley, 1911Colt , Browning Hi-Power |

BTW I have three P38's but they pale in comparison to the coolness of the broomhandles IMHO.

When people look at my WW2 display & I offer to let them shoot one, they always pick the broomhandle. So...
1) broomhandle 2) Webly Mk VI 3) 1917 Smith |

It's tough, and they change constantly, and one of my favorite the 1911A1 has been named but:
Of course the 1911A1, for the reasons already mentioned, timeless, powerful and rugged. Also the Tokarevs, for me mainly because it's a ripoff of the Browning design made simpler and uses the cheapest milsurp ammo around right now. I have a Chinese Tok and I shoot the life out of it, so much that the slide rails are starting to mushroom. |

I would say the Hi-Power, I have one, that was Belgian made but assembled in Portugal, my Dad bought it used at Cabela's and it had a worn out hammer sear
so I replaced it and it works great. Just need to find some authentic wood grips for it, and it will be a nice shooter if nothing else, not really
"collectible". Looks like it was ridden hard and put away wet a few times but the price was right. I haven't gotten time to fire it much to
really form an opinion on the HP's yet though.
I had a broomhandle, a pre-1898 Conehammer in 7.63, sold it due to hard to find ammo and the fact that I felt it was too valuable to shoot regularly plus it seems a previous owner put a heavier action spring in it, maybe to shoot 7.62 Tokarev.Being honest I sold it for a loss, because it was not truly original and I overpaid for it...... I would like to eventually get a "Red 9" though. Lovely gun, I don't miss it a bit though. The machining and fit and finish were top-notch, truly a masterpiece of Teutonic engineering.

1911, Makarov, P-38. Not too sure why I like the P-38 so much. It seems every other ejected shell case lands right on top of my bald head.

I guess this string has gone on long enough for me to post (when I comment on my own posts I seem to have a "string killing effect" similar to that
of a moderator).
1). P38. It's my favorite handgun design, I just love the way it looks, the open-slide, etc. Plus, it was my first experience with a "real" handgun and my dad later gave it to me (AC 43 baby!) when I turned 21 for avoiding cigarettes, snuff, alcohol, and drugs. It will be the last material object I part company with (other than clothes). 2). Browning Hi Power. Super comfortable and accurate-enough handgun. I just wish I'd HAD'T let a crappy 'smith get ahold of mine. To Cylinder and Slide I guess! 3). Smith and Wesson Model 10. Reliable and accurate wheelgun. I bought my dad one that had seen a lot of police holster action, but it's still a super-smooth operator. Runners up: Luger (it's just so cool), Model 1911 (but I've never owned one), Kahr P9 Covert (I carry it often but it does lack the coolness factor), NAA .22 magnum "mini revolver". This little guy has been carried more times than I could even guess, once even (likely) saving my life since it was on me when two LARGE guys tried to break into my car and I surprised them. So it's the one gun I can say has actually prevented a robbery/fight/my demise. My Browning BDM has likely done the same, by being on my side when I worked as a rent-a-cop...if but for a crappy trigger pull, it would replace the Hi Power. hsc |

Gotta be the broomhandle, Luger and Colt 1911, although there are a lot of others I shoot with a great deal of pleasure. When You pull the trigger of a broom,
the vision of all those complex parts thrashing around in there is reason enough to keep on shooting it, even though you can't hit anything with it (the
sights are regulated for use with a stock, and shoot about one foot high at 25 yds without).
I've also got a soft spot in my heart for the S&W 39. I have one of the old 39-nothings, and it's a pleasure to look at and to shoot.
