I just bought a scope (never done that ever before). A BSA illuminated optic 1.5 to 4.5 scope for my AR. I needed it 3 weeks ago when hunting turkeys. I'll see how much I like this one then maybe get one with more magnification. I just couldn't tell if that guy was a gobbler or not.....it was in a field and there were too many hens around for him to be tempted by our calls. hsc

I use Warne quick release rings and it makes for a versatile setup. I've been putting picatinny rails on my other rifles and can now use the scopes on them also.

As your eyes get older they get less flexible and you can't see the rear sight, front sight and target all at once. No cure, no glasses, nothing but a scope, which puts it all on one plane, will help.

Apparantly they don't focus as well as they used (worn lens muscles?) to which means this can't be fixed with glasses. You can still use open sights though - I bought an adjustable aperature that clips onto my shooting glasses and these work like an aperature on a camera. Still, I can get away with slightly blurry open sights at the moment. It gets worse the longer I shoot (muscles get tired?) or towards the end of the day at work.

They love them and they've held up to a .30-06. They aren't nearly up to the optical quality of my Nikon team Primos in 3x9, but are OK as long as you dont use really high powers where the Barskas get really fuzzy around the edges. Barska does seem to have 2 completely different lines of scopes, and people reviewing them have had problems with the "Euro" line but seem to like the others. I guess this is because, like most imported scope companies, Barska is nothing but a trading company buying scopes with its label from different Chinese manufacturers. BSA does exactly the same thing.

I haven't tried Barska but have tried the Konus line and they do the same at highest power (fuzzy edges) and I kinda expected that for the price - it will however allow me to shoot super small groups so no complaint.

Even after the leaves are gone, depending where I am hunting I may not be able to get a shot over 75 to 100 yards. That is when i use my #4 mk1 with the peep sight. I have a scope on my 308 single shot H&R and the Gibbs 2A1. My #4 is dead on at 125 yds. with it flipped up and on the lowest setting. Any where I choose to hunt in my area I don't have to worry about resetting the sight on it. I very seldom get a shot over 200 yds. Shot placement was the same on two different deer at 40 yds. and 125 yds.shotout
