Were there normally any serial numbers on the stock? Mine has the disk and a crown stamp in the wood behind the rear of the trigger housing. Also the magazine floorplate does not have a serial number but has the crown stamp. The bolt, and rifle are matching 705xxx. Sweet rifle and in excellent condition. One or three minor stock dings but looks all original to me. I guess I should dust it off and fire a few through it. Amazing that I bought it about 20 years ago because I thought it looked really nice (pretty in a manly sorta way ). Looks like it was imported by Glass Distributors in Swan VT. Light stamping on the underside of the front of the barrel. I need a sling for it and am looking on Ebay and Sarco. Thanks

Most were made from 1941- 1943 . The stock & handguard are numbered in the barrel channel . Many were mismatched during rebuilds . Floorplates , both bands , rear sight & bolt release are usually not numbered . Buttplate shoud be matched on the bottom . EBAY is a good place to find a sling . A Swedish Mauser is an excellent choice in a firearm for anyone .

I used to own a 1965 Dodge Coronet 383, red two door. Bad car for the day but I survived the burning rubber and crazy driving.

I tore it down and scoured the channel looking for anything. All I can find is the acceptance crown, and it has a disk. Also the barrel on this particular rifle has no serial number either. It has Stan Stenmo's initials on it in between the rear sight base and the receiver ring, on the right hand side. Read that was fairly common on later rebuild's. Can anyone give me any more info on this? Thanks -C

You will also find many M-38's with mismatched stocks . The later rebuilds will not have numbered barrels .
