Lapua vs Prvi Partisan brass |
Lead | |
|
Looking to start reloading and wanted to draw on the vast experience here in the forum; Is Lapua brass worth the extra cost over a cheaper brand such as Prvi
Partisan? Looking to buy a substantial amount as I live in Southern Az and its easy to loose brass when the Ljungman kicks it out. Is there a performance
difference or does the Lapua brass just give a longer service life? Thanks! C

IMO, for the price, Lapua can stay on the shelves. It is overpriced for what it is and what it does compared to other brass manufacturers.

Stuff from Scandinavia tends to be pricey. Has to do with their tax structure and high wages. Lapua's cheaper than Norma, isn't it? Used to be. You
could look at the Prvi Partizan and say it's a real bargain in comparison.

I have been reloading Privi brass for quite awhile now, 303, 7.65 arg.,6.5.x55, 7.5 swiss, I have no complaints with it at all. Good brass at a decent price,
at the moment, it is cheaper to buy loaded privi ammo than it is to just buy the brass. I recently bought 5 box's of 7 x 57 Mauser, loaded privi, and 5
box's of igman 7 x 57 for a shade over 10.00 a box. The brass alone is running around 44 cents each, so getting loaded ammo for 50 cents each is more cost
effective to me. Just my .02 of course. (and its boxer primed of course) DM

Thanks guys, thats what I've been thinking as well. DM that was another thing that I was considering, I have several hundred once-fired prvi cases from the
last couple months, and same thing for 6.5x55 it would be nice to purchase loaded ammo for fairly cheap and allows me to save up brass to start reloading.
Thanks guys!

I think you would have to state your usages and you did by saying your going to us it in a Ljungman. I think Lapua brass is well worth the cost if you are
loading for a bolt action rifle. The accuracy with which Lapua brass is made makes it superior to any other brass I have ever used except Norma and if you have
reloaded very long you know accuracy is in the case. However the Ljungman is not kind to brass of any sort and it throws it a long ways, both reasons to use
what is cheap. I have reloaded FMN brass for my Ljungman and it cycled well, isn't the old FMN the new Prvi Partazian?

Prvi is Serbian. Isn't FNM Portuguese?

The FNM is/was Portuguese. I think the contract/orders to manufacture the ammo went to Prvi-Partisan/Yugoslavia (or what used to be called Yugoslavia).
