I decided it was in need being refurbished. Here's what the was done in Refurb. 1. Chain and rings added to cap keys. 2. Breech rope shackles added. 3. Shooting platform built. 4. Rope tackle for training block and breech rope made. 5. Vent opened to 3/16 for straw quill. 6. Carriage painted. 7. Barrel inspected and repainted. 8. Trunnion welds ground out. 9. Markings stamped. a. Rt. Trunnion: DDGS b. Lft.Trunnion: 1984 c. Rear Cascable reinforce: 43 d. Muzzle: No. 1 e. Between Trunnions: U S Edited by DD on 05-28-09 05:07 PM. A real beauty for sure, and I'll bet it hits what you point it at as well! What Caliber? What Scale? 3/16" seems a mighty big vent on a smaller scale cannon. How does that work out for you?

The scale cannons I build are only 1/8th scale so most common varieties (Civil War era field guns) only have 3/8" to about 5/8" bores so a 3/32" vent is about all I can have. Works okay just sifting the fines of 4fg down it, or using fast thermex fuse, but my 1/4 scale Naval 12 pounder does have a 1" bore and about a 3/16" vent as well. Somehow your pictures made your cannon look a bit smaller than a 1" bore, so thanks for the clarification, but it certainly is a very very fine piece no matter the scale!
