Parts for K98 |
Lead | |
|
Were can I find some parts for a K98? It has a Turkish bolt in it. The rifle is a byf 42. I would be looking for a correct bolt, cleaning rod, sight hood,
sling, and lock screws. I think this is what they call a mid war variation? It is an older import marked rifle. I think the stock is correct for the byf 42,
it has Wa 135 stamp and is cupped with the take down washers. The front band is not H style but milled straight. The rear band is the wide milled kind. Rear
sight is marked on both sides. And of course the obvious question of "What are they worth?"

There are several sources for nonmatching parts for a 98k. Your best bet for a correct model bolt is a local gunsmith that has been in business for many, many
years. They've probably worked on a few Mauser K98k models and will likely have a complete bolt assembly laying around in a parts bin or may know where one
can be found. On line I use Hoosier Gun Works, a look at todays catalog indicates they have a complete German 98k bolt for $75. There are many other retailers
of used military surplus parts that may offer bolts.

Thankyou for the reply. I think you are right. I'll probably have to stumble on one some were. I guess the question is how bad that Turk bolt is
bothering me. It head spaces out good. Someone even bent the handle so it looks ok. Shot it yesterday evening with some yugo ammo and it was shooting fairly
high. I didn't put it on paper though. This is my first German 98K.

$75.00 would be a very good price and under what I usually see which for MM RC bolts start at $100.00 or so.
I have switched around bolts with my K98ks and never once had a head space problem but it must be possible. eBay has a number of parts under the military collectibles WWII German K98 typing in the last as a search name. GunBroker also has parts but not as many as Fleabay. You may also find them at gun shows and there you can, of course, examine them and if there are many parts you can choose the Waffenamts that match your K98k Wulfmann
