hey everyone. i've got a buddy who found some guns in his attic of his parents house that his father had left there before he passed away about ten
years ago. now, my buddy wants to sell the guns to me so he can put the money towards paying off his new subaru.
i already posted in the straight pull rifle forum about a K31 he's got, but i've got a question for you mauser guys too. my friend has a K98 8mm mauser
thats non import. the gun has a lot of markings, none of which have been peened out or scratched. the gun's bluing isn't in the best of shape, but
there's no rust. the numbers match, but the cleaning rod is slightly bent. this gun still has the captive screw for the trigger guard. the only instantly
recognizable mark is the swastica with wings, i think its a waffenmark.
yeah, its a numbers-matching non-import gun, but the stock is cracked. its right where you wrap your thumb around the stock when you get into shooting
position. it hasn't broken yet, but i bet it will. we shot it last weekend and the gun went bang every time and was accurate enough to blast some bowling
pins. bore is OK, but i've seen better looking bores on lee enfields.
i know its a longshot, but can anyone here give me a range of what i should offer my friend? i don't want to rip him off, but i don't want to grossly
overpay either.
