M-261, AR15 .22LR conversion device |
Lead | |
|
old Sneaky Pete here: The other day while cleaning out my closet I stumbled on an M-261 .22LR device replacing the "Bolt Carrier/Bolt" in an AR15
allowing semi-auto function firing .22LR bullets thru the upper receiver/barrel. Along with the device was 5 "Full Profile" 20 round magazines with
some kind of insert that allowed loading .22LR bullets. 3 of the mags have the Colt AR15 "Floor-Plate" and the other 2 have an "Adventure Line
Mfg. Co. Inc., Parson Ks." floor-plate. As Im' getting Long in the tooth and have had my Colt SP-1 since '73 (paid $225 for it) I don't
remember much about the conversion device and how it came about sitting in my closet. And since I handload all my .223 ammo for match competition that M-261
device is sitting in a box in my closet gathering dust. Anyone have any information about this M-261 device and how much it might be worth??? I'd
appreciate any info. THANX--SNEAK

Off the top of my head about $300-ish.....maybe a tad more with all the mags.

Realistically it's more like $175 to $220. A couple sold on the gunboards trader for $200 and under with the 10 shot inserts. You can buy brand new Ceiner
22 cal kits for the AR for $159 + post and they work. Black dog magic makes 25 & 30 round magazines for the Ceiner and M261 subcal kits so one can get away
from those problematic 10 shot inserts. I never liked the M261 when in the military - jammed alot and those 10 round inserts were often nothing more than a
paperweight.

Just double checked on GB and they are selling for ~$300....
Never had any reliability problems with mine....it's got thousands of rounds through them with only an occaisional jam. Still using the USGI 10-rnd inserts...eventually I'll get some of the BDM mags... |

Hey Jeremy, any chance you can come to the plate match next Saturday? Hope to see you there if you can.
