So what do you guys recommend using in the Gew88, 1903, and 38 K.Kale? I have test fired the M38 with surplus 8MM ( Romanian I believe), I inspected the spent casings for bulges and splits but everything looked good, The cases stretched about .003 to .004 thou. with nominal expansion and easy ejection. The GEW88 casings were in good shape with about .007 thou expansion near the end of the chamber, and not to smooth on the ejection. I am still inspecting the 1903 so I hope to test it this weekend. I will also slug the barrels on the rifles this weekend. Speaking of the slugging, If I have read everything correctly if it slugs out at .323 then standard surplus ammo will be good to shoot in it? I measured the diameter of the bullets I have and measure .318-.317- and .319 throughout to lot. What gives? this is Romanian surplus and some other stuff I picked up at gun shows. I am also getting a bunch of Turkish surplus also. If anyone has some good simple answers I would love the help, I don't like the Idea of blowing up a gun. Also I have several other Mausers Mod98, 24/47 and M48. Thanks again.

. It was
good while it lasted, we shared some good times together
, but I'm
not going to miss having to slap the bolt handle open on the fired cases - not so bad from when shot standing or sitting but disruptive to the position when
shooting prone during a timed event match.
