I was wondering if anyone knows of any online dealers that currently have any M38's in inventory. I am especially interested in one in very good to excellent shape without a counterbore. Thanks for any and all responses.

I am sure that there are a lot of others looking for the same exact thing! So if you find one, prepared to dig rather deeply into your piggy bank to afford it.
That is why I gave up on trying to find one. About ten years ago I saw a few, but they were in what I consider "not the best" shape. So I resigned
myself to a couple M91/59 Carbines, which are almost identical, and have better triggers besides.

I thought a 91/59 was a cut down 91/30, so does it not have a 91/30 trigger? Is a 91/30 trigger better then a M-38 trigger? Thanks in advance.

I've purchased from Allan's Armory with good experiences.
He has some now but they're going quickly. Dave

Yes, the 91/59 is a cut down 91/30. However when they did the work, the rifles were completely gone thru with new barrels and more modern trigger assembly
parts. I think nearly everyone who has one and compared to them to the earlier rifles well agree that they have much better feeling triggers on them.

Try gunbroker.com or AuctionArms.com. They do have them, but be patient and wait for the one you want.

My 91/59 has the 91/30 rear sight with the numbers milled off to make it a carbine sight. My M 38 has the carbine rear sight. i saw 2 M-38's last gun show
and bought one. My 91/59 does have a better trigger than most of my mosins. She is a beauty of a blond too
