How can I replace the bolt (and believe me I have tried every site to my knowledge), My serial number 683298. The bolt that was on it is nothing like the ones I see on other sites. I have pics but hopefully they can be seen. Any help will be MOST GREATLY APPRECIATED. This one is the under side of the Tab like handle.This one is of the top view kind of a flat like screw set .This is bolt itselflike most of the other bolts.

Posts: 1286 (06/22/09 12:00 PM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	If the numbers that are on your bolt safety, cocking piece, bolt shroud and firing pin match the last three digits of your receiver then someone in the past has chopped your original bolt handle off and screwed in a spoon handle type of bold handle in a foolish attempt to improve a original rifle. You can get a replacement complete bolt or bolt body off GunBroker or at one of the importers like Kebco.com but you will need to check the head space of the rifle after you replace the bolt. A NO-GO gage in 6.5x55 will be needed to test the head space. As far as value, unfortunitly your rifle will never be anything more then a mis-matched rifle but it will still be a accurate shooter. Check Gunbroker for similar rifles with mismatched bolts for value. probably in the range of $200 as is or with a correct bolt handle unless it is a rare year. When was it made? Smokepole50

In other words is the bolt itself done for? I t does have the spoon like tab can it be replaced? I only paid about $200, the stock is very good only a scratch but I can tell it has been replaced. The bolt body could have a new bolt handle welded back on it's stem but it would still be missing the S/N that was stamped in the knob of the bolt. I would just find a new unnumbered bolt body if you want to restore the rifle to its proper appearance. The modified bolt body could still be used with that rifle, perhaps as a hunting bolt if you perfer a turned down bolt while caring the rifle. Smokepole

Like smokepole say's you could weld another bolt handle on this bolt body but I'd check the headspace on this bolt and see if it's correct before shooting it. If it headspaces you could then be fairly sure it matches the other parts. Who knows what the guy who modified this rifle did. Whenever possable I try to stay on the safe side of things. If this bolt body doesn't headspace it wouldn't matter what bolt body you used because you would still need to check the headspace...Jim

I do it on all my rifles before I ever fire them, even the ones that have all matching numbers and look almost new. You just never know when a receiver will have bolt lug set back and excessive head space unless you check it. Head space gauge's run about $30 and are well worth the piece of mind when you pull the trigger. Smokepole

The date on barrel is 1943 and the next thing that I see is the stamp C O right above the name and date about 3 inches. Don't know if that means anything.

If it has a barrel lenght of less then 29 inches then it should be a Model 38 short rifle. I am not sure about the C O marking. Are you looking at the barrel and seeing inspectors initials? Smokepole

I removed the entire barrel and it measure 31 inches. I think I measured it right. From the top of the barrel to the the stamp and date is 23 1/2 inches but where the bolt slides in this where the other 8 inches come in. I looked on Gun brokers and I see some bolts should I look for M94, M38, or M96?? I don't see any for either models, all I see is K98 & M98. Any suggestion as to where else to look??? Because you have a Husqvarna you should get a bolt body with a factory turned down handle if possible but it will be harder to find then a more common straight handled 96 bolt body. Check Kebcollc.com and see if he has any bolt bodies listed. Give Ken a call, he may have a 96 bolt body that is not listed on his page.
