Anyone need anything from Israel??????? No Sherman Tank's or ME109's, needs to fit in my carry-on or ship back.
I'm taking off on July 16 for a trip to Israel, Egypt and a short visit to Amman Jordan, just a stop over between Israel and Egypt. RJA has daily flights to Egypt.
I will be taking off from Richmond VA at 5:00 PM to NYC and leave NYC at about 8:00 PM arriving in Tel Aviv at 2:30 in the afternoon, Just over 5000 miles and eleven and a half hour flight.
My wife and I are taking a tour with a group from my Synagogue including the Rabbi. Most of the time will be spent in Israel, four days in Tel Aviv, three days in Galilee and four days in Jerusalem, I am a Jew so I have got to pray at a Shul in Jerusalem.
We are also going to spend a couple of days in Egypt. I have to see the Pyramids, Sphinx and the Egyptian war museum showing how Egypt won the Yom Kippur war. <yeah right> I will also be taking a sunset ride in a Felucca on the Nile through Cairo. As long as I'm in that part of the world WHY NOT.
I collect almost everything military from Israel. Israel's IDF does not issue many medals to it's troops, rather Israel issues ribbons for each war. I have a collection of all six wars from 1948 on. What I am missing is a ribbon issued to members of the Haganah and Irgund. I do have one ribbon with the Haganah, 1948 and 1956 wars but no single Haganah. This soldier must have been one bad motor scooter.
So I will be looking for any ribbons or medals. Strange what you can find when you look around I found a medal issued to the troops by Egypt after the 1948 war.
I will be going onto the West Bank to see Bethlehem, could be a problem, but my wife is a Christian and wants to go there. Never know what how the West Bankers are going to act.
