Posts: 8 May 5 12 10:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I seldom shoot my military guns any more , but when I do , I certainly appreciate them , the Garand being one of my favorite . I ran a variety of ammo through it today in a short shoot . The 147 gr. FMJ Korean stuff printed three 5 shot groups that averaged 4" at 100 yds using N.R.A. military targets . I was surprised that some heavier ammo , Remington 180 gr Core Lokt shot 2" av. And needless to say was smiling very big each time I looked through the spotting scope . The 165 gr. A.P. shot 4.25" av. and Remington 165 gr Accutip shot 2.5" another happy face . I do have a question though , since the Core Lokt shot so well , do you think it would be ok as a regular fodder for the Garand , or do you think it might be a bit much for the Garand ? Posts: 1678 May 8 12 5:26 PM Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The military opted for a 147gr bullet for a reason, op-rod damage. As long as your shooting an occasional box of Rem. Core-lok's I would think you'd be fine. I however would stay clear of the hotter 30-06 loading by Federal and the like. 2750 fps and a 150gr bullet will give you the best life out of your Garand. I have never thought Korean ammo was all that good in the Garand. Try and find yourself some Greek HXP M2 Ball and see how your rifle shoots. If you reload use some flat based bullets.
