Danish Rolling Block Stock Disc Identification??
New Friends, Yesterday, I purchased a Danish Rolling Block 3-band military musket ( The receiver tang says that the rifle was made at the Danish National Arsenal in Copenhagen & dated 1878) in what is either 11.7x51R or 11.7x56R chambering. The left side of the butt-stock carries a (between dine & nickel size) brass disc whixh has a stylized "J" & a block "R" over the number "145". Is anyone able to identify that Danish military unit?? (I have a suspicion that the "J" is for Jager/hunter & that the "R" is for regiment, with the "145" being a rack or inventory control number.) THANKS, satx
