Re: Re-barrel a 1911? (reply) RLMbassist wrote: ...Many surp shooters can't do better than 3-4" on a good day anyway. You got that right. 3-4" is a respectable grouping for that battle rifle. Afterall, it's not a modern target rifle. |

Re: Re-barrel a 1911? (reply) I think I would leave it as is, unless you are really in love with the rifle. Rebarreling would cost you close to what its worth and lose some collectabilty value. Doing it in .308 would give it "Bubba" status & make it worth even less. You could cut ... |

Re: Re-barrel a 1911? (reply) If I have to go that rout, could I not have a more coventional chamber cut in the new barrel also? I'm thinking .308? |

Re: Re-barrel a 1911? (reply) I have one with muzzle wear, so I had to explore this topic as well, There is one gunsmith that re-barrels K31's ( you'll have to google that ), I contacted him to ask. His reply was that, unlike a K31, it is very easy, about like re-barreling a ... |

Re-barrel a 1911? (topic) I was given a 1911 that had been improperly stored and the bore had rusted. I cleaned it up and got it looking pretty good but the damage to the bore limits accuracy to around 3" to 4" with iron sights at 100 yards. Is it practical to rebarrel this rifle ... |

Re: M1888, M1886-90, M1888-90 ????? (reply) The 1888 8x50R, was a compressed black powder load, and the 1890 was the first smokless loading. |

Re: M95 "W" Stamp on Barrel (reply) I have seen the W on the right side of the receiver ring. That M95 was marked for the WW1 Hungarian Honved rather than the Imperial forces. Sorry, can't tell you more than that. |

Re: Mk III Ross Questions (reply) The "why the Ross" story has many versions, side trails and dead ends....but IMHO the two key factors were Canada's lack of a national arsenal and the death grip the Brit gun trade maintained on private production of the Lee-Enfield. If Canada was to ... |

Ross 22 Questions (topic) I cam back from the Houston gun show with a Ross 22LR single shot training rifle. I have two questions on this idiot stick: 1. The engagement between the bolt and locking block is an area less than 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch. I'm a little leery about ... |

Re: Mk III Ross Questions (reply) I own a Mark IIIB, have yet to fire it. I read that Ross' problem was that in addition to plagiarizing much of his design from the Mannlichers he never took the time to truly perfect his design, he constantly tinkered with it-cf all the various marks and ... |

Another reason why the Ross was unsuitable in WW1 (reply) I always wanted to own and shoot this much maligned rifle. It was before and after a very good deer rifle but not a military one. The rolling bolt is the basis of the AK 47, the most popular infantry weapon ever so what was the problem. Much has been said ... |

Shoots high at 100 yards (reply) Hi folks; The advice on how to reinstall the bolt was great. Thanks. I have a bit of a problem, my sporterized model 10 shoots high with my home made ammo. I'm shooting 125 gr. sierra psp bullets with 48 gr. of IMR 4007ssc. I can put my finger tip over ... |

Re: Scans of 1907 Ross Rifle Handbook (reply) Thanks for scanning the manual. It was interesting. I haven't seen much info on the Mark I Ross rifle. Does anyone have a Mark I? I picked up a Mark II a year ago, which had been in Canadian and US service. |
