Planning on being there.
The stump that jumped out in front of me, did no damage, just bent some piece that held another piece that was fixed with a 4 pound sledge. Hope you make the shoot too, Amberg. Pretty , ahem, exclusive crowd you will be hanging with.

Only if Shawn shows up will it be exclusive....or would that be elusive?

I may catch a ride with ballcap57...
My wife said I could go IF, I got a good chunk of our bathroom re-modeling done before I leave, specifically getting the shower operational again! What are we shooting? I figured I'd bring the following: Semi-Auto: M1-Garand NM-Clone Bolt-Gun: M1917 Rim-Fire: H&R M12 -Bean

Be there or be mowing and weed-eating all summer long with short breaks in between to read the parallax forums.....
Folks, it's going to be hot, one of the hottest days of the summer so far in WV. Bring water & ice. and ammo and stuff to shoot and stuff to shoot at. I'm making my day a Czech one as far as firearms selections and of course the obligatory Mosin Nagant or two and a few Mausers.

OK to echo Chuck's statement the day is forecast to be partly cloudy and 87 degrees and for my area uncharacteristically humid. We are on a hill so if
there is any breeze (usually left to right) we will get it but the only shade is the range overhead so do bring plenty to drink! Lunch will be provided by me
and delivered to the range, pizza, of a few different varieties. If you can help with the tip I am obliged as it is out of their normal delivery area and about
12 miles from the shop. I had to bribe them with a big tip, no I am not above that! I am bringing way too many rifles and will not get to shoot them or clean
them right away either as I am booked up for Bluegrass shows both nights Friday and Saturday. I also have my buddies daughter singing at church and she will be
heart broken if I don't show up Sunday for church! Anyone who will be in the area Friday before the shoot is welcome to call and come along for the music
by contacting me through on-line or if you find Ed at the Super 8 he may go and will know how to get ahold of me. If you really are ready to kill yourself on
the way home if you drive I can provide a place to crash for the night too. Air conditioned and too quiet according to my city buddies? See Y'all there and
drive safe at pace lap speeds at most! Bill

I Hope to be there by 8-8:30 a.m.

I am hoping to get there about the same time of the morning, 15 or so minutes. Depends on traffic, fog, road construction issues, etc.
I figure we'll be up & running full speed by 9:00am. That seems to be the average time to actually put rounds downrange. Everyone be careful on your trip there. Ballcap should be arriving at Zee's place any time now. if he hasn't already.

So glad to hear you guys are getting together tomorrow. We will miss you but not the next time. Zeebill, we will be living in Elkins as of September 1, so I

Everything is packed up and almost loaded up here.
Is Beanstrung finished with the remodelling job? Did Ballcap make it to Weston yet? All of these questions...... Good luck with the move and the new gig Pete!!!!

Ballcap arrived about 11:30 and we got a bite to eat and he has freighted off to a motel to nap a bit. Got up and on the road very early. We had time for the
gun room and the pawn shop. I guess the magic time is 8:30 or so. Buddy Tony said it was crowded last weekend so early may be the key move I guess. Like I said
earlier I almost never shoot weekends and have the place to myself weekdays. Elkins is cold in the winter and gets all the storms Pete! Runs 4 to 5 degrees
colder in the summer though too. Great Car Shows and folk music at the Mountain theater and a great railroad trip to take too. Humberto's for Mexican on
the 4 lane is the best I have found down here too! Doesn't look like much but food is a-one! Near the Motor Vehicle place is an actual fresh fish place
too! Again the best I have found! Good to have you about 35 or so miles away Pete! Well I need to cut my nails a bit or I will be ripping the heck out of
them shooting again. See Ya'all tomorrow! Bill

Beanstrung is on site and heading for the motel after a trip to some really hot Blue Grass with me and Ballcap! Unfortunately it was so hot in the hall we all
left early and I am heading for bed very soon. Everything packed except the range bag which I realized I left on the floor of the shop where I would trip over
it so I wouldn't forget it? Geezer is as geezer does I guess! Back out to the shop I guess! I just love getting older?

Great shoot everyone!!
Greenman down, Greenman down!!! Thanks Ballcap!!! I won't post that you shot the knees out of a 3-D man target at 300 yards. If I can figure out a way to affix a metal base plate, I'll bring him to the next shoot. I'm glad that the bambi finally wandered off of the range. Death wish deer! We just finished cleaning the pistols and revolvers a few minutes ago... Found the problem with the CZ-50, It needs a replacement firing pin plunger thing, or a new slide, possibly both, there's a lot of peen mark looking wear around the FP plunger. Also, I think the Ortgies needs a new/stronger firing pin spring. It went bang, bang, click one time too many. Everything else functioned just fine. The parts Turk ran like a clock. One bit of advice, do not bring 300 rounds of 7.62x45 in anticipation of shooting the VZ-52 then stupidly load the 52/57 in the rifle case for a 190 mile road trip. Great looking rifles and some fine shooting and excellent range safety from our group. I am still in amazement of the person (not with our group) that walked out 25 yards with a stick and a rock to pound the stick into the ground to staple targets to while the range was hot. Having food delivered to the range is the way to go from now on! That rocked!! Thank you Zee!!!! And the weather, although slightly humid was bearable and the rains didn't start in until we got into the garage here at home. I think Amberg Rifleman wins the "coolest old rifles" award. I got to see in real life a few pieces that I'd only seen pictures of until today. Also wish I'd brought an Enfield for that one young feller to get to put a few rounds through. And no matter what pictures Beanstrung posts, I was not dumpster diving for brass that Zeebill threw away. Here's to hoping everyone enjoyed the day as much as I did and that all make it home safe & sound. The rifles got a shot of G-96 down the bores earlier this evening and will get thoroughly scrubbed out tomorrow morning. It was great to have more/other Parallax members show up for the shoot. Ballcap57 wins the "I drove the greatest distance to get to the shoot" award. I nominate myself for the "I didn't blow my hand open this time award"........ Beanstrung gets the "This is almost like Kentucky, but steeper" range award. Your certificates will be mailed later this week.....

Amberg,
Thanks for getting to the shoot. Those few minutes of you showing your rifles to me was great! I've never seen an intact Vetterli in real life. The ones I've seen have been missing parts or had bad, very bad things done to them. Those Mausers were something else and certainly a motivator for me to try to find one in that kind of condition! I'm waiting to hear back from Bean and Ballcap to see if they made it home OK yet.... And of course the pictures to be posted.......John, are you listening?
