But I must ask the users of this board to refrain from making sporterizing posts unless it involves restoring a firearm back to it's original configuration.

Some examples... | ||

..I am talking about not discussing sporterizing rifles.
For example; Cutting barrels, stocks, drilling receivers for modern mounts and scopes and other permanent alterations that will devalue the worth of an otherwise collectable C&R milsurp. The reason I don't allow discussions of those things here is because many folks visiting here have so many varied opinions on what the "value" of any particular firearm is. A guy that won't molest any mauser will chop and equally valueable Mosin in a heartbeat because he doesn't like the way they look and considers them garbage in their original form, or you could look at it the other way around as many do. Polish your triggers, bed you actions, do anything hidden that you choose but please respect any prospective buyer of those firearms by letting them know what you've done to them as many of those modifications do affect the value of those firearms in the eyes of many potential buyers. Personally I see nothing wrong with minor polishing of triggers and tuning of actions "short of glass bedding". So I won't object to that type of discussion here. But I will not support or allow post that fit the example I gave above in this post. Parallax
