I know a guy who was dusted off and came back with all kinds of problems who had nothing "positive" to remember about his time in Vietnam. He left all personal belongings, few as they were, behind in Vietnam when he was dusted off, including letters and snap shots. I have sent him pictures that I took and forwarded others from guys we both knew. This has become a "good" thing.
It's a double edged sword. Perhaps nighmares may still come back after over thirty years, but for me the pictures from friends I knew then are a good thing that gives value to my journey into the last years of my life.
