None of mine are loaded until they get to the firing line. The rifles and ammo are locked and stored seperately.
The only things I keep loaded are a 12 gauge Mossberg and my bedside .40 CZ. Dave

I keep the "Shooters" loaded. And I also keep every gun in my house loaded which is about 5 of them. I have it and hope to not need it kind of thing.
But, I don't have kids yet, so I'm sure I'll think differently on this topic when we did have some rugrats running around. |

My guns and ammo are kept separate. The only thing I kept "loaded" are some speedloaders with 38+p for my Ruger Sp101, which are also kept in the ammo cans.

I do not keep my C&R's loaded.
They are mainly just for my collecting and every now and then I will take one to the range. On the other hand we do keep the wife's .32 Keltec--my CZ40 and a 9mm Smith loaded What good are self defense guns if they aren't loaded? For self defense I would rather be able to shoot it than throw it at the assailant |

Some of them. They are incorporated into my home defense plan. Something I would professionally encourage everyone to have. I have some experiance in security and defense so feel free to contact me if you need ideas.

Re: Do you keep 'em loaded?

No, while I don't have kids, I have friends and relatives that do, and they visit frequently, so as I am in CA it's best to keep everything locked up!
Normally I would leave a smattering of guns around loaded! EmuL8

One of them. My Romanian SKS is serving as my primary home def. weapon until my Series 70 45 Govt. Model gets an overhaul. I live out in the country & we are empty nesters so I don't worry about over penetration. Tim

Absolutely no loaded firearms in the house. I have kids. Besides, there really is no reason for me to have a loaded weapon in the house as I live in a small town that doesn't have the problems of the city.
If I felt I needed a home defense weapon, it wouldn't be one of my milsurps, it would be short barreled 12 ga. double or pump loaded with buckshot. Mike |

My C&R are for collecting and the range. My .45 and the wife's .38, which are also our CCW firearms, are available if needed. Though I do keep a magazine full of hollowpoints for the M-1 carbine available if needed and I'm not by the .45.

Not even close. There's never a loaded firearm in my possession until I get to the range. Aside from my C+R collection though, I'm also an amateur armorer. This means that there's armor and accoutrements in the house. By accoutrements I mean swords. I'm my bedroom alone there's a Wallace Claymore, a basket hilted claymore, a royal two-handed claymore, a falchion, an El-Cid and a two handed broadsword I like to call Carnifex, which is Latin for executioner. Imagine a balding six feet two inch, two hundred pounder with Charlemagne, Scandinavia and Clans Calder and MacMillan in his background, with a pony tail and a full beard running naked down the hallway lunging with a four foot broadsword. Or even better, stepping quietly out of the kitchen. I see very, very well in the dark and as you'd have to kick my door in to get in, I'd know you were there and where. I'm not so concerned that I feel the need to keep one loaded and I like the personal touch that cold, naked steel gives one. Besides, LOL, I live in an apartment, I could shoot a neighbor accidentally while trying to stop a prowler. Call me cautious.

Don't load 'em till I hit the range, unless I'm using that particular firearm for self/home defense. I usaully use my Mossberg pump for home defense though.

Re: Do you keep 'em loaded?

Yes and No, it depends on what I have available (I.E. whichever one I consider to be the most deadly), currently I keep my MAS 49/56 loaded, but for safetys sake I don't keep one in the chamber I just have a full magazine in it but the way I see it, it will only take me a fraction of a second to chamber a round if need be, and in case that isn't enough I have my Yugo SKS about 5 feet away.... As for the others no....
