This forum is for ALL of my scout mounts: M39 Finn, Type-2 Mosin, and K31 Swiss Scout Mounts. I look forward to hearing from all of you that have or would like to have one or more of my Scout Mounts!! Thanks for letting me be a part of your Milsurp Shooting Experience. They better watch out or you`ll put em out of business. ps I may have to order another soon for my m44 pole carbine thanks again aaron10

(my spelling MAY be a bit off, there) This will be a great place for my Turks to gnash their teeth and cry softly in the rack for a Scout mount just like their neighbors from the Soviet Bloc have! Hey at least you didn't get one that squirts in your face while changing diapers!!! I got the mount and 4x30 scope mounted in about 20 minutes from the time it arrived....couldn't wait. Pre-zeroed with my lazer bore sight, took it to the range and after 2 clicks up and 1 down it shot 3 group hits in the 1" to 1-1/2" range at 100 yds. Needless to say I'm a happy camper....Guess I should have waited a week for the hunting special, but then I'll not quibble over ten doe's.....or wait I guess that bucks....superb machining and engineering, Thanks, Jerry.

The mount is a real piece of work. I had hot wheels when I was a kid that were made of a higher quality steel than this mount. Every time I shoot my m44, the mount comes loose and moves in all directions...I have tried loc-tite, jb weld, and most recently Magnum steel epoxy...I have not had the nerve to shoot it since the last fix...I just don't want the rifle I have built as a long range hunting rifle to look like some kind of frankenstien. I actually at this point have considered duct taping the $#@! mount to the receiver. (just kidding). Have there been any claims of your mounts having the same fate of the cheaper immitations? heavier duty? Steel? Also, just an fyi....any of you guys that are like me and like to add accessories to your guns might want to read this. My brother in law gave me a m-44 for doing some work to his house. I have always liked the guns..very accurate. Well, long story short, I decided to get a new stock, mount, scope, and MUZZLE BREAK. Well, the only thing that I put on the gun that actually helped it was the stock. see above for scope and mount explanations. anyway, Do not waste your money on the muzzle break...the first time I shot the rifle, at a huge 11 point buck standing about 20 feet from me, I couldn't figure out why I missed....???.... Until I noticed that the muzzle brake had left the gun with the bullet. Luckily it was a allen screw clamp on type and not a permenantly afixxed on. Any way just wanted to get that out there before someone gets hurt.

A few folks, maybe 10-15, out of the the ~1500 mounts that I have sold, have contacted me with some difficulties of movement during the sighting in period. But after talking them through the proper mounting procdure, as spelled out in the instructions that come with the mount, the problem was solved. None of the ones that I personally use has ever come loose. My mounts are very heavy duty, but still light, because they are machined from solid High-Strength Aircraft Aluminum Alloy Barstock. The mount was easy to install, and rock steady. I tried the cheapo fleabay special, but even with Lok-Tite the thing would loosen up after about 5 shots. I shot fifty rounds this morning, and the zero never even quivered. Most impressed. Go ahead, make my day.

It mounted by removing the sight ladder, but leaving the base on the rifle. You simply slid the scope mount into the spot where the ladder had been, then you screwed standard scope rings onto the weaver surface it provided. The problem with the one I bought was that the single mounting point left the scope free to swivel up and down. Regardless of how tight I made the side set screws the tremendous recoil of the Mosin Nagant eventually broke them free after 1000 or so rounds. They finally stripped out, and I discarded the equipment. What I need is a mount to replace the entire rear sight base, and slide onto the dovetail mount. The drift pin that fastens the sight mount to the dovetail can be used to pin the new scope mount in place. No screws would be required. This seems like the simple solution. Is there a reason why no one is trying it?

If you bought one of my mounts with the side clamping screws, you would not have the problem of the mount flopping up and down around the pivot point, because my mounts also have a front and rear elevation screw that bind the mount in place, even without the side clamping screws. You can easily replace the rear sight base in about 4 minutes. All you do is slide the sight base back on the dovetail, tap it a couple times with a plastic or hardwood mallet to seat the sight base on the dovetail, then replace the drift pin. Maybe 5 minutes, and there is no trace left that you removed it in the first place. It's no more permanent than removing the action from the stock when you clean the rifle. The mount that I tried in the past had the side mounted friction set-screws, but as I said, after about 1,000 rounds they wore out. It's why I'm so reluctant to try it again. I don't mean to sound negative about your product. It sounds like it's not what I need, though. Thanks, and best of luck.

Lastly, that mount that you tried obviously was NOT one of mine, because the side clamping screws on mine are primarily for long term stability and are not intended to hold the mount in place. In fact, I always test mine WITHOUT those screws installed and using only the pivot pin and front and rear elevation screws they are still ROCK SOLID. Sorry I can't help you. Maybe some other time. It can be done in less than 5 minutes and returned to original in the same amount of time. I have done this to one of my 91/30s and installed scope rings and scope. I haven't fired it yet so I don't know how this method will hold up against the recoil. I'll have a chance to try it this week. M39Scout I want to try one of your mounts and will be ordering this week if you have them in stock.
