Tang splits |
Lead | |
|
Are there ways to fix splits that start from the tang of Mosins? Float in CA and clamp with blocks real tight and hope for the best? My buddy has a few and
they are all split. I was hoping to fix one up and bubba the stock with some 600 so it matchs all my other beautifully refinished rifles. Will the CA hold
up? With the price of ammo I only shoot half or less of what I used to do. Cheers, J I just dont know if I will be able to get enough pressure on there to
close the split. I dont want to see it. Thanks!

I can tell you that yes, you can repair it solidly enough to
hold. But I believe there is more to it than gluing and clamping.
Cabinetman is on vacation for a few and I really don't know enough to advise you on that. So unless one of these other fellows that do know spots this, you may have to wait a few days for a definitive answer. Just wanted to let you know you weren't being ignored.

I've had good luck with "Hot Stuff". It's a FAST setting glue (like Superglue but better) that will run into cracks and hold. Clean with
Acetone several times first and wrap with surgical tubing.
Works for me. Regards, Eric |
