Lets see if we can get some more involved. *2nd. Annual Spring Bolt Head Shoot.* Send in your best five shot group. [1] 50 yards off the bench. [2] Original or rebuilt rifles with stock sights. [3] Any ammo that is safe for your rifle (Factory or Hand Load) [4] Midway Pistol Target: www.midwayusa.com/midwayu...target.pdf [5] Mail Targets to: Al Nelson 1645 W 150 N Provo. Utah 84601 [6] On or before June 20th. 2008 (Last day of spring/First day of summer) [7] Group will be measured from center to center of furthest two shots. [8] This is for group so location on target is not counted. [9] This is a honor match so no witness is required. [10] Officials are not eligible to participate. I too hope you are not the only one. Lets get some shooting done and some targets in! You can almost hear the battle cries when you shoot one of these old rifles. I for one am going to be out of town for the next two weekends (before that, its actually been snowing and freezing cold), and no one here has large rifle primers! Hopefully by the time I get back, they will have some in stock so I can get to reloading and shooting! So I might be a bit closer to the June 20 deadline than I would normally like... -Brian

However one of my my girls (Ages 16 and 20) shot all the Remington ammunition I brought along for the match while I was coaching the other. I had some Turk Military with us but decided mot to shoot it in the Commission Rife. The Commission Rifle is a Turked 88/05/35 with a very nice bore. I started the 16 year old with a Moisin Nagant Hex Receiver 91/30 with DDR markings and a 1925 date on it, she switched to the Commission Rifle, even though it kicked harder she liked it better. I was showing the 20 year old how to load a Carcano charger. She has long fingernails and Old Salvatore Carcano probably did not anticipate someone using his rifle design with fingernails. I am amazed at how well she types and etc. with them, but the carcano charger gave her some trouble. She did figure it out and I was happy at how well the Carcano model 91 long rifle shot but by the time I turned my attention to the 16 year old there was only about 4 cartridges left from a partial box of Remington Ammunition I brought along for the Commission Rifle. It was fun , I hope you'all had fun also.

I'm about an inch better than I was last year, but still not where I would like to be. Considering I still don't have a bench rest, and am just kneeling in the dirt, it might be about all I can get. I will load up some more and try it again before the targets are due, and hopefully come up with something a bit better. -Brian

Was working out of the office. Had 4 Targets mailed in. Would have liked to seen more. The groups are: 31061 1.155 04537 1.191 97701 2.124 36051 2.971 Will send out a bolt head, ejector and extractor today. All other will be getting a sling also. Thanks for sending in your targets.
