Frankly, I've been surprised at what a pleasant rifle the GEW 88 is to shoot. I use a cast bullet load that is mild, accurate and easy on the rifle (and shooter). I could shoot that rifle all day. It's a real joy. When I got the rifle I didn't think it would be a "keeper" - but, it shoots great, has an "old world" personality, has been a world traveler, the action is slick and I've gotten very fond of it. It's a keeper for sure. I encourage any who haven't enjoyed shooting their GEW 88s to give it a try. I think you'll like it.
