Well,if you have a blown up picture of it, I would sure like to have it e-mailed to me so I can set it as wallpaper on this computer. My e-mail address should
be in my profile, but if it isn't it is curtr at nctv dot com. Just replace the "at" with the correct designator and the dot with a period.

It woeks pretty good. I was firing an M38 with one and an 91/59 without one. Very noticeable recoil reduction.
Go ahead, make my day. |

Jon- don't worry about shooting an M-44. Most of us here have a fun time shooting the short carbines. If you are worrying about recoil, then you best get
into another hobby and forget firearms. Your worrying about it will certainly lead to flinching when firing, which will throw any well aimed shot off its mark.
Just tuck the buttstock against your shoulder. Don't go pulling it back to the point of cutting off the circulation to your arm. And yes, some of the
trigger pulls can be somewhat weird on a lot of milsurp rifles, especially Mosin Nagants if you are used to shooting only factory commercial rifles. That is
all part of the fun is trying to learn how to properly use each rifle with its particular trigger characteristics.
What I do with a strange rifle is to hold it and sight in on something with the rifle unloaded and simply dry fire it a few times to get the feel of the trigger. Absolutely nothing to worry about. I worry more about not having brought enough ammo along on a particular range trip than anything else. Curt |

hey thanks. ive shot it already and it was nothing! it really didnt have very much recoil compared to what i expected. i had alot of fun the first day. i
brought 40 rounds with me and i sighted in on some limestone that was about 5" squared thick and about 18" long and i just blew it to smitherines on
the first shot. since then ive been to the range with it 3 times. do you have any tips on how to clean it?
i read somewere that using windex w/ amonia helps counteract the stuff in the corosive ammo so ive been using that with either hopps #9 or mil surp. oil. its
been working pritty well but im just trien to see what other options i got. thanks again.

I just ordered a couple of these butt pads. I'll try one on a 91/59 and the other on either the M44 or M38. I've got a slip on, but it's not what
I really want to use, so we'll see.
As for cleaning, especially in the field or at the range, just put some hot soapy water in a thermos and take it with you. Pour some down the still warm barrel and follow with a dry patch. Do it again if you feel you need to, and then clean well when you get home. The water is what dissolves the salts from the corrosive primer residue. Hot soapy water works best, think cleaning your black powder firearm, but plain hot water is fine, too. I'm not sure what the ammonia is supposed to accomplish, but if it makes you feel better, use it.

No need to worry about the ammonia, all that does is help with the copper fouling. Just a few hot wet patches down the boar wipe the bolt the same way then
clean and lube as normal. Shoot lots and have fun!
