Has anyone shot the 50's Yugo 8mm ammo AIM has for sale now? I've only shot the M75 90's production stuff through my M24/47 with good results. I ordered some..... What can I expect??? is it comperable to the M75??
Thanks

For the minimal difference in the price, I'd stick with the newer stuff unless you're getting a screamingly good deal on the 50's dated ammo.
For the price AIM is selling the 50's ammo, that's not a good deal (IMO). Actually none of it is anymore. A local dealer is selling POF .303 ammo for $20 per box... It should shoot fine, but some folks have experienced some issues in past years in regard to the cases splitting, separating, primers blowing out, etc depending on the year. The worst so far for me has been having to re-cock the bolt on a 24/47 to get some round to fire. Click, recock, BANG.

The newer is much better. It was their 'sniper' ammo. The most common complaint with the 50s stuff was 'stiff primers.' A lot of people
bought stronger springs to get consistent ignition. Usually Wolff 22# or 24# springs. The 50s stuff was generally sneered at until the 70s ran out.
Just for the record, all Yugo surplus is corrosive. Diplomacy is the art of saying nice doggie until you can find a rock. Will Rogers |

Except the Yugo ammo (or any ammo) sold by SOG.

Thanks guys, I got it in.... looks pretty much the same as the M75 sniper stuff except the crimps look less uniform and it has red sealant on the primers.
Headstamps marked 1953.
Boxed were sealed but the ammo was a bit grimy.... Haven't shot it yet but will post when I do.... |

I HAVE BEEN SHOOTING THE M75 198 GR SNIPER AMMO WITH GREAT RESULTS. HAVE OBTAINED SOME OF THE AIM SINCE THEY CLAIMED IT WAS 154 GR. WILL RUN IT THRU A 24/47
AND A 1940 K98 AND REPORT.

RAN ABOUT 30/40 RDS OF EACH THRU A24/47 AND A 1940 K98 WED 8/6. P.O.I. AND GROUP SIZE WAS SIMILAR FOR EACH AND EACH WENT "BANG" AT PROSCRIBED TIME.
THE SNIPER AMMO WAS '85 DATE AND THE OTHER WAS '53 AND '55 BUT BOTH FED AND EJECTED FINE. THE COST DIFFERENCE WAS IN THE SHIPPING CHARGE
......ABOUT $20 MORE FOR THE SNIPER SINCE IT CAME FROM SEVERAL STATES FARTHER AWAY THAN THE "STANDARD" AMMO. SO REMEMBER, LADS, YOU CAN'T COMPARE
COSTS UNTIL YOU FIGURE IN SHIPPING ,TAX, WHATEVER.
BONASABOB P S ...HAVE ALSO HAD GREAT RESULTS WITH P.O.F. 303 THRU TWO LEE-ENFIELDS, A NO.1 MK 3 AND A NO.4 MK 2 BUT MOST OF THE POSTS(ON OTHER FORUMS) WOULD HAVE ONE BELIEVE THAT THE STUFF IS ALL DUDS AND HANGFIRES SO HAVE THE B. S. FILTER ON..... AND A RIFLE IN GOOD REPAIR WITH PROPER FIRING PINE PROTRUSION AND A STRONG STRIKER SPRING. |
