My family has history of military service in this country since the Civil War. I must have done something right in her upbringing for her to consider serving and acutally deciding to do so.

My daughter just enlisted in the Army Reserve for 6 years and the only way I could be prouder of her would be if she had enliseted in my branch of service (Air
Force). On top of this she is gonna be a communications tech (dunno the MOS off the top of my head) , same field I was in before I retired.

Congrats to you and your dauthter both! I raised three daughters myself and the middle one went into the Regular Navy right upon graduating from high school.
She spent six years on Active Duty and got out as an ET-2, or E-5 pay grade. Got a lot of schooling in the Navy at various bases, Great Lakes in Illinois,
Norfolk, San Diego another place in Virgina that I forget right now. Her main duty station was in Colts Neck, New Jersey. While she was in, she met and married
another sailor, also based out of Colts Neck. While she was in, she had two kids, a boy and a girl, all paid for my Uncle Sam. She and her husband both got out
in 2000 and are presently living in Colorado Springs where they settled, as her husband is from around there. She landed a few high tech jobs with her Navy
training. The first one was a great job, but they closed down manufacturing in the states and moved everything to China. So she is on another high tech job now
making good money.
Yes, I was quite a proud daddy when the recruiter came by to talk to her and she signed up. She was in one of the last boot camps in Orlando, Florida before they shut the base down. In September of 1994, my youngest daughter and I flew down to Orlando to witness her pass-in-review from boot camp. Being an ex-Navy and also ex-Army vet myself, you can see why I was so proud of her. Curt |

Good to hear this stuff. I see so many slack-jawed porch ape kids here in my rural area who have no clue.
