Where is the best place to get ammo for my k-31 ? The 7.5 is very hard to find and I haven't seen it in any shops in southern california where I am at.
Also, I can not buy the GP-11 or another other steel core or steel jacketed ammo since that is restricted on ranges near me, go figure. What options do I have
for ammo and where I can get it. At this point, price doesn't matter to much since I won't be firing a lot at all. Thanks.

I believe that Grafs has some, but don't quote me on that. I know they are supposed to have the brass for loading your own, but I seem to recall them
having loaded ammunition also. I have never checked them out because I don't handload and I got plenty of GP-11 to shoot in our free state and we don't
have restrictions like that here, as common sense is used.

The gun store I do business with ordered some Gold line wolf, $$$$$$$$.
Graf&Son's his it listed, it is brass, boxer primed. I talked to one of the Guy's from Graf&Son's the other day and he told me they order their brass from across the big pond and Hornady loads their Ammo for them. Theirs is about 4 to 5 $'s cheaper than my local store. I Think they also have un-primed brass in 7.5. skd

GP11 Question | ||
|
Is the jacket on GP 11 bullets steel or a nickel alloy? It will attract a magnet..... seems that a steel jacket would wear out a barrel pretty quick...

The steel used in bullet jackets is pretty soft and pretty thin. It won't wear out barrels any faster than any other gilding metals. Remember, all steels
are not equal.

I just bought my latest case from Dan's Ammo. I think he has the best price I've seen so far...
http://www.dansammo.com/ammo.asp $214/Case with most others running around $240... Ain't gonna get any cheaper. Stock up! Steve |

The jackets on GP11 projectiles are mild steel, plated with cupronickel alloy. In the early days, the areodynamic advantages of the boattail were known, but
getting them to shoot accurately was difficult with the soft alloys used at the time. The French solved the problem with a solid bronze projectile; the Swiss
and Germans with plated steel jackets. Even though we (here in the US) tested the Swiss projectiles extensively in our own cal .30, the plated steel jacket
wasn't used extensively in US ammunition until the WW II period. The 172 grain US M1 Ball projectile was made with a gilding metal jacket, which was strong
enough for the bullet to shoot accurately. (When the percentage of antimony in the lead alloy core was decreased, the 172 grain bullet weight went up to 173 or
even 174 grains, essentially the same projectile we knew from Frankford Arsenal and Lake City Match and National Match ammunition.)

Sgmsteve I put a big plus one on DansAmmo!
Great guy to do business with! He indeed has a great price compared with other vendors. He told me too that stock is getting low. The GP-11 has got to be the most gorgeous match grade ammo out there. Dragonfly that's too bad about your ranges' restrictions. I have a friend who reloads the Swiss brass but that is another story. She's quite the resourceful individual and found some Berdan primers because the once fired GP-11 brass being to pretty to throw in the scrap bucket. Good luck and let us know how the reloading endeaver goes! Draybo one more edit!: Skyd brought up the Wolf Gold Line. I bought one box for hunting purposes and it is nice looking ammo and boxer primed.

Wolf Gold is made by Privi Partizan so you can buy either the wolf or privi and its good ammo either way. The only difference is the box from what I've
had. The headstamps all say privi 7.5...it is available in 174gr fmj or soft point.
Hope that helps Frank |

Dammit, been picking up a case every other week for past two months, and didn't see it ever advertised as low as this e-mail special with Buyers Club.
Guess I should actually read the e-mails I get from them! Just ordered two cases with a $10 coupon and shipping was only $19.49 - outstanding. Vielen Dank
swissgun!
