I have no illusions that this anything more than rearsenalled carbine with a early Winchester barrel and receiver. I could attempt to restore it to be correct but I think I'll leave it alone. It is what it is. Carl

I'm happy to post the pictures, Sgt Rob. I gave it a tryout last Thursday at 25 yards and by the third group of five after I was comfortable with it got a 1" group with four of those within 1/2". It should be interesting to see if I can shoot a 4" group at a 100 yards. Carl |

Carl Gustav wrote: Good choice. Why would you want to take a genuine military rifle in authentic, late issue configuration and turn it into an ersatz manufacturing specimen using parts you know for a fact were never on the rifle during it's military service? |

Very good summary, Marv262. Restoration would be like a 60 year old woman getting a facelift and other physical modifications so she can look thirty years
younger. |

Only reason I'd try a restoration is if a early style stock and L sight fell in my lap.
Its certainly been there and done the deed from the looks of it, and most likely the vast majority of its service in the field came after WW2 in Korea or Vietnam. Restoration would actually detract from its history. |
