U.S. Model 1892 Krag-Jorgensen Bayonet value range? |
Lead | |
|
I recently listed one on ebay and was curious if anyone knew of a range they would sell for. It is stamped with 1903 on one side of the blade and US on the
other. The item listing is 110282194312 if anyone is interested.

Your bayonet should sell for around $100.00. Give or take. If you have sold on ebay for very long, you know it's a crap-shoot. Could sell for $150.00.
Depends on who is bidding, and how much $$$ they have. I've noticed, that as the economy declines, only the higher end edged weapons are selling well. The
more common pieces, which were being bought by the more common collectors aren't bringing the kind of money they did a year ago. Most of us are having to
tighten-up. Only the big dogs can still afford the big bucks. The up side is... it's a good time to buy! Lots of collections going up for sale on all
auction sites. As yours bayonet is from the end of production, it will most likely be on the lower side. But, who knows. There was reportedly a 1904 date, but
these are rare, as the 1903 rifle was already in production. Most people want the ones dated to, or before the Spanish American war. In my experience, the
1900, and 1903 are the most common. Most of the ones I have owned were of those two dates. Good Luck!

Hi Trench
Do you have any information about the socalled Sedgley version of the 1892, which supposedly was made during WW2 for a 1903? /Amsfelder |

Amsfelder: That's a new one on me. The only other rarities I know of are the Savage Model 1899, and the WWII Onida 1905. Both referenced in Homer
Brett's book. The one I have never heard of is the LF&C US Model 1917 Enfield bayonet. In Cole's book III, there is an ad from LF&C, showing
all the products they made for the war effort. Clearly pictured is a P17 bayonet. No one has ever heard of one. I sold the bulk of my bayonet collection some
years ago. Now I concentrate on WWI US and German weapons. And Imperial Japanese. And... Just when you think you know a good bit about something, you find out
you don't know nuthin'! Sometimes, you find out everything you know is wrong. It broke my heart when I found out that the war ended before the 1918 Mk1
Trench Knife made it's way to France. But, instead of selling my Mk1's. I convinced myself that they went to Russia with Operation Arc Angel, or the
North Russia Campaign. This was just a continuation of WWI. Yeah, That's the ticket! I could go on for days. I'm the only one I know that collects
edged weapons, so there's no one to talk to. If I find any info on the Sedgley, will let you know. M.P.

Hi MP
I made a post on Militaria-Swords-Bayonets- Edged Weapons Forum in May this year. No response. Take a look. You have to register in order to view the pics. Notice the very crude finish. I find it hard to believe this bayonet to be made by Sedgley. http://forums.gunboards.c...728&highlight=sedgley /Amsfelder |

your bayo is rough and the late common date - that will reduce value , the scabord is the third model and in fairly good shape it would be of higher value than
the fourth , that said your looking in the $150 range i think
