Speak to Harry - he's got bits for everything.

A model VZ-24 receiver will fit into a K98k stock.
But a Model 24 Yugo (M-24 or 24/47) receiver is 1/4" shorter and will not fit a K98k stock and will require you find a Yugo stock (it will fit into a M48 Yugo stock) The barrel you put into the action needs to be a K98k barrel as the various 98 types have their steps in different places. Also the bolt must be the correct length as the Yugo bolts are also 1/4" shorter (They do use the same extractor) Wulfmann

What Wulfman said is correct. The M1924, M24/47, and various M48s are all intermediate length actions and they will NOT fit in the K98k, Vz24, Spanish M43 or
Polish Wz29 stocks (which will all fit each other's stocks).

Remember - Brisbane gun show coming up in November. Probably won't get a bargain deal, but probably have what you want...
Edit: And Harry will likely be there too with his massive assortment of bits... |

My advice is to sell the receiver/stock(sounds like you have the K98 stock too) and use the money towards the purchase of a M48 or a K98 complete. By the time
you acquire the parts (M24 bolts are very expensive) and pay for the gunsmithing you'll have way more than the cost of a really good specimen invested and
still have a "Frankenmauser".

The only rationale I can see for rebarreling/restocking the M24 receiver is if the receiver is in VG condition with a pristine royal crest. I would buy a cheap
M24/47 with a nice stock and barrel, and part out that donor rifle to build the M24....but the project would be a labor of love. Of course BobVZ is right that
that the finished product would only be the facsmile of an original M24.

No worrys. I usually go (being a local), but there's not much in the way of bargains - everyone knows the score and price accordingly, still, there's usually a few interesting bits and pieces. Harry's usually there and I've often picked up some bits and pieces from him but he is also local so I don't need to buy from him at the show. There's a few dealers from south of the border, that handle antiques and other blackpowder items, as well as swords, and various associated militaria. There's also a large assortment of books at cheap prices. I made the mistake of leaving a $5 book (secondhand of course) on the shelf while I looked for something better. When I came back 5 minutes later it was gone! Just gotta but the cheap stuff I guess. |

Have fun! I'll be there but only to browse probably - I just blew my funds by buying a brand new CZ 375H&H (took it down the range today but limited by
the open sights and my aging eyes, still a blast though. Got a scope mounted tonight, reload tomorrow and back down the range on Sunday - oops way OT!).
Goog luck with the stock search. |
