M96 gun show buy |
Lead | |

OK I gave in to an impulse buy at the gun show. It is an all matching CG in very good condition. I paid too much for it. It has a band attached to the trigger
guard. It is a Century import. It looks like a birch stock. Has anyone seen this band before?

The only band I've seen similar to this one went from the trigger guard up over the bolt handle so that you couldn't open the bolt. It was being sold
as a rebuild that had been unfired since the rebuild...Jim

I think that stock is beech. Very common on Swedes - all the M38's I've seen had beech. Original M96's had a lot of walnut, but check the House of
Karlina page above.

I think Springfield Sporters used to use bands like that on your triggerguard when they used to sell rifles years ago. Some sort of inventory control.
