I just picked up a 1893 Danzig from Gunbroker, I have spent the weekend disassembling and cleaning will post the pics when I have her finished. Not really sure of the rifles lineage or travels other than Danzig 1893 has so many markings seemingly random in their placement, I understand some from my reading here others I am not sure of, the rifle is mismatched though shroud and barrel bear same numbers, as does the flip up site, does not bear any regimental markings though there are some random numbers/letters under the trigger housing C RR Z P S as well as an O V 7 J not sure what these mean, there is nothing to the rifle that suggests Turk use nor anything that suggests travel outside of Germany, other than the fact it is sitting in my basement shop in Maryland. For a fact, some of the rifles I've rebuilt looked a whole lot worse when I started than the one you have. It can be a challenge but I've found that a good wire wheel and lots of patience have been necessary items in bringing one of these rifles back to its former glory. I'm sure that reading through any number of the previous posts in this site will be very helpful to you as you move forward in working on this. I've had the same experience in seeing no lack of markers' and inspectors' marks on the parts I have examined. I would be less than honest in saying anything other than that I have no good idea how to decipher these markings. I know they're trying to tell me something but I'm unsure as to the message. By all means, please keep us posted on your rebuilding efforts. We're rooting for you!

Your attention to detail -- and a lot of elbow grease -- are very apparent. Among other aspects of your efforts, did you have much trouble removing the screws from the trigger guard and front barrel band? I've run across a few of those that seem to have grown roots and needed a number of hits with an impact driver to come loose. Did you use cold blueing on the barrel tube and trigger guard? (I've used Wheeler and it seemed to work very well although I believe that's being discontinued). Seems like replacing the rear barrel band retaining spring is about the last item on the agenda. Keep it well oiled and it will outlive both of us. Are you thinking about shooting this? Sir, you did a good job and I tip my hat to you! Keep up the good work!!

The photos were taken right after getting back from the gun club, ran 30 rounds of Reminton core lokt through her and she sang. Was really a great time at the range. Was quite impressed with the groupings too at 50 and 100 kept it in the small circles, gave my AK with red dot a run for it's money. The screws all came out rather easily with the exception of the one screw at the butt plate the rest after a bit of soaking (WD-40 style) came out easily. I was lucky! Yes I need to change the spring and have one forthcoming from Egunparts also I had gotten three of the enbloc clips from them did the mods and they worked well. I did use cold blue Birchwood Casey's and it came out decent if I do say so myself. Was a good project to work on after my 3 year old went to bed:) Thank you for the kind words.
