The owner has requested that topics not be political in nature. Problem is that we all have a heavy political issue right now. I bet at least 90% of the members of this forum have similar views on many of the core issues of this year's election cycle. Why get up on a political soapbox on this website when you will be basically preaching to the choir?

I need the refresher course myself, because sometimes our threads are legitimate gun collecting threads, but there is political overlap. An example would be the thread is running right now that concerns how the political and economic climate is affecting our gun buying. Again it's legitimate and belongs in the forum, but we have to be careful about avoiding the political talking. We also need to recall that for the most part in a political talking that we do is preaching to the choir. Most of us probably share similar views in this regard. The suggestion that I may make, is e-mailing one another when you have something, that you wish to start a political discussion on. PM that person rather than adding it to the thread.

However, even the first attempt was WITHOUT political mention. Without landing that pharma sales job (and never hearing back from the last rep I was referred to on what she thought about my resume) I am considering a "mass sell-off" in order to buy ammo for what I do shoot. (Thanks for seeing the post for what it is.....no mention of politics is made.....just asking what others are considering purchase-wise). Likely moot however, as I have some 5,500 rounds of 8mm, 2,500 of 7.62x54R, and 13,000 rounds of 5.45x39.....did you guys hear that an AR maker is now offering 5.45 as a chambering??? Maybe I should get an AR in that caliber!!! GREG

However, these uppers are running close to $600. I still think I would like one in order to have some AR variety in life.

Just a friendly reminder. Trust me I gotta watch myself pretty close. I'm pretty fired up about what is going on with the election etc. I just fired off a letter to the editor last night. Here we need to talk guns and relax. Speaking of which I have two that need to get to the range. I picked up a VZ 58 at Knob Creek that needs a test fire. I just put a Weaver K2.5 on mine this week and hope to sight it in soon. To bad our local forecast is for rain Friday and Saturday. Carrying a Ruger 44 magnum carbine deer hunting is like carrying a 10/22 that will knock a deer down reliably. Neat rifles. And thanks for not going political in these very very political times. I talk it quite a bit on forums where it is allowed but I don't think it's necessary here for the good reasons already mentioned above. If you really understand and want to keep the 2nd amendment, you already know who to vote for....or against. Nuff said IMHO. I let the barrel cool between shots however since the groups opened up to 3-4" in repeated firings. Still not bad and the ammo is cheap compared to American made 44 mag. I had a vintage Weaver steel tube K4TV on mine but have since switched it to an aluminum Weaver K2.5. My scope is a Leupold 4x LER. Haven't run them over a chronograph yet, but they really seem to smack the targets. They also shoot well in my Alaskan. Tom Ne Desit Virtus Rakkasans
