Well if this would not bug you then maybe i am overreacting. I think i need someone who has mausers to tell me it still looks good. Here goes the pics of
the fixed part.
Also its off by about 1/4 of an inch. |

As a Yugo I would sand it and add some stain and be fine with it. Not sure what the picture shows??? Is that a piece added to the end????
What is 1/4 inch off??? Wulfmann

The white wood you see is cedar which was added. It doesnt accept the stain as well as the rest of the wood. Also the peice i added is about 1/4 inch to short.
So yes the wood was added. Do you think it still looks good.
this is pictures of the res tof the rifle with which you helped me earlier http://parallaxscurioandr...rums.yuku.com/topic/29924 i have found some stocks for 100 dollars though there k98 stocks which i do belive mine is as well right? i only baught the rifle for 50 dollars which i belive is a crazy deal consedring it came with a bayonet sling and oringinal cleaning kit along with the manual and all parts. So 50 for hte rifle and 100 for a new stock isnt to shabby. But do you think that fix job looks bad? |

Kind of a bad picture. Try not placing a dark gun against a white background. I can not see the contrast of the repair well.
You might find a Yugo captured K98k stock for less if you are patient. The K98k stock that were used by the Yugos not a replacement stock. They usually have a metal bolt repair through the pistol grip and a Yugo number 90% different than the RC number but same place. They would run in the $50-60.00 range plus shipping. This being a Yugo refurb gun why not a Yugo refurb stock??? $50.00 was super. You could sell the bolt for more than that. Wulfmann

Scroll down to 43. There are two headings one is Israeli the other says flat butt plate but has cupped inside as well once you have clicked on it you will see. Cupped is $70.00 with no metal but you can use your metal. The above stocks you listed 1 and 3 are the same stock type post war Yugo replacement I would not want it myself. 2 is a good one with all metal comparable to the Numrich with no metal at $70.00 How is the metal parts of your gun including action TG etc. Is it all scrubbed?? WaA??? Wulfmann

Well ( grabbing rifle ) most of it is dark silver so the finish is comin goff but its darker then my butplate which i baught seperatly. Nothing on it is rusted
plus i took it to a gunsmith and he said bore was in perfect condition as there was a huge about of cosmoline in it our something like that.
Thats what im saying for some reason the 98k stock has more character. That link is superb how long does the stuff usually last cause i gotta wait tell next check to get it as i just baught a bayonet. Also i am gonna order the 70 dollar one but how do i get the the bayonet lug off , the big o ring metal on the buttstock and the other metal circles near the bolt off? |

The dismount in the butt stock, that big metal thing with a hole does not come out nor do you want to try and put one in.
The bayo lug, once the bands are removed, has a pin in it. Always take pins on a Mauser out from left side to right and put them in from right side to left. Wulfmann

No store, just a hobby and not a collector per say as my guns have to shoot or I get rid of them.
Even the very good shooters if I like one better than another. My intention is to sell off most of my K98ks keeping semi matched original pre-war and mid war plus a good RC for corrosive and a couple re-barreled to 308. I figure 5 will be enough and 17, what I have now, will be most just sitting in the safe. Wulfmann

I have one table at the local gun show to trade etc so I have a few for sale. What is your friend looking for??? A RC, a non RC, good shooter,
matching type there are categories and prices they range from.
I am going to put up a gun on the G/K43 boards at a fixed price. It is a BYF44 I bought as a vet bring back matching gun but found out the bolt had been renumbered to match so I have ground off the humped number and sold the duffel cut stock and put it in a different BYF (WaA135) stock. It is, however, an excellent shooter about as good as a K98k gets. I will post pictures later Wulfmann

Here is the description of the byf-44K block I will be posting:
There will be more pictures when I list it at the G/K43 site. Buyer will have to state he has no intention of adding any numbers later Wulfmann This byf44 k block was originally purchased by me last year as an all matching K98k on GB (the seller has since deleted his account). It had the bolt renumbered to match the receiver and was a humper as I later found out. I sold the stock that came with it and put the action in another WaA135 cartouched stock. The stock has a different SN than the action inside the barrel channel. The sn is on the receiver only and there are no numbers anywhere on the visible parts of the gun. Please look at the pictures and ask questions. This gun is an excellent shooter with a very good bore. It has some freckling so is not a mint bore but look at the target. These were shot with light reloads and 185grPSP bullets (no corrosive ammo has been shot in this gun by me) and I worked my way up the target until the 2nd shot you see below then the 3rd was on target and the next 5 (right hole is two rounds) were fired at consistent pace. This was off a front rest holding the butt to my shoulder at 100 yards. This was also how this gun shot both times last year, same tight groups. This gun is offered in two ways. With the no SN stamped trigger guard and floor plate for $475.00 or: With a early milled TG and FP for $400.00 Those prices reflect the difference the TG-FP combo are worth as unnumbered. You may return this gun if you do not like it but please understand at your expense. That is shipping both ways and any FFL fees for my having to take it back as per BATFE regulations so it would make more sense to ask all questions before buying this rifle. I am asking less than I have in this and while it is a great shooter the fact I got taken is a detractor for my keeping the gun.
Shipping is $25.00 to Florida, Georgia and Alabama. All other states are $30.00 except the three west coast states are $35.00. This reflects insured reality shipping. FFL or C&R required to ship. I am not an FFL and will not ship from an FFL. So, if your state requires that do not consider this (CA OK)

Very nice its actually my brother as far as matching numbers he could care less as he would only want to shoot it. Anything that can be shot reasonable is ok
for him. I think i might be tempted to buy that (have to ask wife =) ). Ill ask him and keep you posted cya later.

They thing is a RC would only be a little less.
I have 2 that I am selling at the GS a BYF44, excellent shooter; $375.00 and code 42 1940 also very good shooter but bore does not look as good; $350.00. These have been de-Russianized (shellac removed along with stock number, elcto pencil removed blue tones down more german looking etc)and have all correct for year parts and most anyone that has done the work and got the parts to improve it start their guns at $350.00. Sarge also has some reconditioned RCs that I would trust the decriptions on. The RCs at the web sites for sale now are the bottom of the barrel and many do not have decent bores but one never knows what one will run into. Wulfmann
