Picked up new Ruger International in .30-06 and put an aperture rear sight on it, no glass for this one. I'll get a picture up shortly.

Nice rifle, Cisco! Full-length stocks always draw my eyes at gun shows.
I just can't believe you nailed it to that fencepost!!!

Oh yeah, the Mannlicher stock is the shizzle and one bad mamba jamba.. I've always admired that model Ruger.

I also have always admired the International. Please let us know how it shoots once you have a chance to take it out.
That stock looks like the Circassian that Ruger puts on the Express rifles rather than the American walnut typically seen on the M77 Mk II. Did you pay a "custom shop" price for this one? Just beautiful..... |

Bryan, the photo does not really do the stock justice. I thought the same thing when I took it out of the box it looked like the wood they put on their
express rifles. Well maybe not quite that good but close to it. I was reluctant to buy a Ruger sight unseen because of the bland so so wood they sometimes
put on their rifles. I e-mailed the guy I bought it from before using the buy it now feature on gunbroker and asked how many he had. He had six and I said if
you would be willing to go through them and pick out the one with the nicest stock I'll buy one. He said OK so I did, I was not disappointed. I've
shot it but just off hand at some rocks across a canyon. It may be until Christmas before I can get out to the range and put it on paper. I don't expect
great things with just iron sights but I don't want a scope on this one.

I'm on a buying spree thanks to the sale of an AR-15. Here is a K-22 Combat Masterpiece made in 1953 the year I was born.
Next up is a 2 1/2" .38 Diamondback and a .38 Ruger Service Six. That about uses up my money. |

Cisco, your pictures are fixed! Thanks for the close up of the sight.
That is one cool Diamondback. I've always liked the look of the 2 1/2" guns.

I can only see 3 of 4 of my pictures. I'll try reposting them in a different way and see how that works.
Now they are back, not sure what's going on.

WVChuck, what are the details. I've seen them but am not knowledgable enought to know what it is, caliber, etc.

VZ-52, made in 1956, carried by James Bond as marked on the receiver....
7.62x45 caliber, a uniquely Czech round that is apparently difficult to find nowadays without paying a bit more than I want to to get ammo. It's a neat semi-auto that appears to have borrowed technology from both the east and west as well as a few Czech ideas thrown in for good measure. The gas system is weird compared to other semi-autos and is a bear to get thoroughly cleaned after shooting. I'm going to have to pull out my original G&A magazines from the late 80's to get the disassembly instructions for the gas system. The trigger assembly is removed much like a Garand, pull the back of the trigger guard out, then slide the assembly forward while tilting it up, then out of the rails it sits in. It has a buttstock cleaning kit & oiler hole under the outer plate. Some have inner plates, others don't. The inner plates are just metal pieces with the accessory holes cut out to fit the stock. The bayonet assembly is unique to the rifle. Lots of these have a bad wobble when open or closed, the one above has a little play, but not too bad. It also looks like someone tried to put an edge on the blade.

Just smoked my CC to the tune of a Pietta repro 1861 Colt's .36 Navy and a 1/8th scale cannon kit (M1841 James 6 pounder) from Dixie, and some free
machining brass rod stock to make some other 1/8th scale cannon barrels (Napoleon, Parrott, 3" Ordnance, etc) to switch out on the carriage as desired.
Will be between .375 & .58 cal when finished!
Boooooom!!! |
