It arrived in good shape but with broken extractor which I fixed with a Gunparts Inc replacement. . Finally tried to zero but she shot 2 feet high!! Ok - higher front sight. Now I have a zero and she is reasonable accurate for the type. Guess I will keep this one but need a proper bayonet for display. My questions is what is the bayonet used by the Indian Government for this rifle and where would be a good place to buy one? Any historical info on the bayonet or bayonets used would help. Thanking you in advance - squibload

It is essentially a shortened model 1907. Here are thumbnails of mine: Sarco had some at one time. I found this one at a militaria show. Good luck, Steve

I continued to research on the net and conclude that the Indian government began grinding Mod 1907 bayonets in several styles shortly after adopting the 2A rifle. Early on they apparantly used the long Model 1907 unmodified. All this makes sense I suppose. I will be on the lookout for a RFI modified to mate up with my 2A. now that I know what I am looking for. Stampings on these bayos can be somewhat confusing After WWll India regained independance from Britian . At this time , the Indian stamp " GRI " would change to " RFI " An Indian Mkl* which was formerly a P'07 Vickers The Mkll* . This one is stamped RFI . The difference between the Mkll* and the Mklll is the squared pommel of the Mklll. Last Edited By: timberlord 12/18/08 01:12 AM. Edited 1 times.
