Mixing shellac |

Regarding the canned shellac that can be bought at Home Depot and the like ("Bullseye" brand, IIRC), does it need to be thoroughly mixed/shaken like
a can of paint, or not quite as vigorously?

No. Alcohol and shellac flakes won't separate out. Now, if the can is really "old" and has been sitting on the shelf a long time, there may be
some separation of some of the remaining "wax" in shellac. Most of it was filtered out when it was made by the factory. Still, some will remain.
However, you most probably won't find any. Shaking shellac can impart bubbles and they will affect your finish. Best not do anything to make bubbles in
that can!
Hope that helps. Rome
