CZ52 fires intermittently(very) |

My new to me CZ52 has a very light firing pin strike and therefore will 99% of the time not fire the cartridge. Any ideas on what to look for? TIA, Phil

IF.....I'm not mistaken.....you can insert small washer or bushing in the spring to increase hammer drop power.
I'd pull pin and clean it as well as the hole 1st.

PhilinNH, I had the same problem on a friend of mines CZ.The problem(someone will correct me if I am wrong)is the hammer spring. Go to Numerich gun parts and
it shows a very good blow up drawing of your pistol. The part you are looking for is #16,Part #241890 and is $2.75 + shipping. You can find new ones in other
places but the sites escape me at the moment.Hope this helps. ERIC

Thanks to both of you for your ideas. I hadn't thought of using a spacer/bushing in this instance. Have done so inthe past. Added a spacer to the hammer
spring and fired several primed cases successfully. A new spring will be ordered from Numrich when I put in an order for some other things. Thanks again.

You may need a firing pin.... I have seen 3 similar problems on CZ-52's and each was fixed by replacing the firing pin.
Mostly it's cause the surplus Euro ammo has berdan primers which means the primer cup needs to be hammered against a pin inside the cartridge case to fire. (they don't have a built in anvil like our boxer primers, also the cups are a bit harder than you find on commercial ammo). The pins shorten a bit by being hammered time & time again & it only takes a few thousandths of an inch to cause the problem you describe. I have seen one case hit 5 times without firing but usually a second try will fire the bullet.... DOC
