Not really a gunstock question per se, but can paste wax be applied over shellac?

Happy New Year!
Sure, you can put just about anything on top of shellac. Hope that answers your question! Rome

Wood floors and furniture have been shellaced and waxed forever.

Is it not true that most shellacs have wax in them already unless the shellac is dewaxed?
I applied a shellac with wax to my K31 stock and it was a good dull finish. ![]() |

Yes there is a "wax" in some shellacs. It's probably a residual material deposited by the bugs. IF you let the shellac sit on the shelf for,
say, 6 months you'll see it settle out on the bottom. Most premier shellac is dewaxed/filtered somehow, however. It does tend to kill the shine.
