Do you think it is OK to dry fire my NO4 MK2? My guess is that it is ok to dry fire this mechanism but then sometimes you hear otherwise for any given weapon. What do you all know about it? Thanks.

Hey all,

Never heard anything about it so far, but I learn something new every day.
I wonder if a "snap cap" exists in .303?? I guess that one could use a spent case otherwise, if there is a concern. |

Dry firing should probably be done in moderation...I wouldn't go hog wild. You could make a free snap cap by depriming a .303 case and gluing a plug of
hard rubber in the primer well. A piece of pencil eraser would work.

There are snap caps available for 303. A-ZOOM make themout of solid anodised aluminium. I would use a snap cap whenever you want to "dry fire".

The average Lee Enfield has already been dry-fired tens of thousands of times without harm. They are military weapons and designed to be cycled repeatedly
without snap caps or any other aid. Snap caps are in fact more likely to contribute to firing pin wear....

Thanks for all your replies. I am keeping my unfired Enfield in its unfired state but I like to pull the trigger now and again. Sounds like I'll be ok.
