Stock Drying Tip #47 |
Lead | |
|
After your third careful application of tung oil on a stock and when you fire up the hair dryer in an attempt to speed up the drying process, make sure the
powder trickler full of Unique gunpowder isn't on the same bench that you propped the stock onto.

Ahhh...
The old sure-grip pebble-grain finish! By the way, how do you catch a unique frog?

I think unique up on it and tame rabbits are caught the tame way.
Fortunately, as the tung dried, I was able to lightly brush the powder flakes off of the stock and had no ill effect. At first, i though t I was going to have to scrape the buttstock off and start all over again. It's going to take another two or three applications to get everything even/consistent from the front to the back of the stock, and is going to look nice when finished. The handguard is finishe dnow with four applications. I keep wanting to say coats of tung oil, but I'm putting it on lightly, fighting the urge to just dunk it in a vat and pull it out amd let it drip dry. Patience.......must have patience.....
