Anyone on here got any tips on how to get the metal on my RC mauser more original looking? already got the stock cleaned up and looking regulation ( or as reg
as i could get with the horrible sanding on the buttstock) Just want to know some tips on getting off the electro pencil and what type of blue would be more
original looking. anything will help.

you could very lightly sand the ep and put on some cold blue to help cover it.

I use the wire brush wheel. This tones down the blackness and the more you do it the more it looks like worn German.
You can brush the metal edges more to add a more real wear affect. Wulfmann

I did one awhile back and it came out very original looking. I use a buffing wheel on a grinder with a soft polishing compound that I bought at Sears. The
compound can in a redish stick #92865. Just take your time and don't push very hard. It took off the Russian crap and left the original blue. I then cold
blued the electro pencil marks which could still be seen but didn't stand out. If you do it correctly it will look very nice.

I'm starting to do the same to my RC Mauser and I'm going to try and change stocks. The one on it would be ok but the rifle has a bent bolt but no
relief cut at the bolt in the stock and doesn't have the slot in the butt for the sling. I have another stock & handguard on the way from Numrich that
is laminated that I hope has the relief cut for the bolt and slot in butt. Hopefully my hardware will work. If it doesn't, who besides Numrich and Sarco
would have small parts. Mainly worried about lower barrel band.
The reciever is marked ax 41. What's really cool about it to me is the gothic style font for the "Mod 98" on the side. I have about decided the stock is from a VZ 24. "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of

More likely a Yugo post war replacement stock.
A VZ24 is very different and will not work with a K98k barreled action as the barreled steps are in different places. The stock bands are completely different and the hand guard goes all the way past the rear site to the action on a VZ24 Wulfmann

Very well could be Yugo post war stock. The upper hand guard looks like someone used a pocket knife to make it shorter and doesn't have the thick layer of
shellac (?) where it was cut. I always thought that Bubba had it at one time or another. I have a dark oil soaked laminated stock and hand guard I plan on
using some acetone and scotch brite pad to lighten them up enough so it's easier to see that they are laminated. Then all I'll need is another stock
band, spring and a buyer for the whatever it is stock and leftover parts.
