I thought boiling water... would eh remove cosmo, this is my first MN.. and i think i errored... it was so pretty before..

They will be along to tell you how to fix it but from the looks of the before pictures that stock was perfect as is. Hard lesson learned I'm afraid.

It looks like the water removed any loose shellac and dulled the finish of the remaining. You can try matching the color and re shellacking the stock. The new
shellac will melt into the remaining finish. It will be shiny. You can knock the gloss down by rubbing it with 4/0 steel wool dipped in BLO. Just wipe all the
oil off and let it dry. This would be the least intrusive method. If it doesn't look good then you can do a complete refinish. We all make mistakes. yours
is relatively easy to fix.
