PS - how common are WRA follower rods? I haven't run across one before now.

My first Winchester M1 |
Lead | |
|
Until now, a Winchester M1 has eluded me, but when I least expected it, I stumbled on this one the other day. I'm pretty happy with the way it cleaned up.
The serial number dates the receiver to June, 1943. High points are the WRA barrel that measures TE = 2.0 and MW = 0.3, WRA forged follower rod, complete WRA
trigger group, unmodified Springfield -6 op rod, and Springfield type II lockbar sight. It came in an H&R walnut stock with lots of character and a
beautiful deep reddish color. You can see traces of painted rack numbers on the bottom of the pistol grip and side of the buttstock, and there's even some
drips of old OD green paint on the stock for added interest. Now I just need to figure out what's leaving to make room for my new baby.

..That sounds like a great find, Swede! Very nice to have so many Winchester parts still on board. Especially the barrel and triggergroup. Congrats!
("Now I just need to figure out what's leaving to make room for my new baby. ") Leaving?!? Ah, just scoot em over a pinch, there's always room for one more...... ![]()
Sorry, no idea about the follower rod....

BobM14 - Yes, that's what I usually do, but I've been trying to tighten up the budget lately, so I feel like something has to go. We'll see what
actually happens.

Very nice find..........That barreled receiver is worth what you paid for the whole rifle.
The color matched, probably original to it self and maybe to the rifle trigger group is worth $150-$200.00 The -6 uncut op-rod is another $150.00-$175,00 if the lug and piston are still in spec. The forged follower rod is fairly rare and probably worth 75.00- $100 in good condition and that one looks like it has not seen to much use. The HRA stock is worth a fair penny as well probaby $200.00. I think you did very well if you paid less then $1000.00 for that rifle. If you ever decide you don't have room for it please PM me.......
